At The Art Institute of Portland we recognize that sustainability is no longer something extra—it is thoroughly integrated into professional design practice—a new reality that is becoming a growing part of design education today. We challenge our undergraduate students to learn about all facets of design, including the social, economic, historical, environmental and human impact of design. A common theme among all 16 of our design programs is the importance of good design in relation to natural resources. Hosting DGN at our college will help our students and the community further this discussion.
